Very close indeed between these teams, and just like the real World Series this should play out in a fun hopefully 7 game battle. For those that follow me on twitter I tweeted out the results of game 1 after I played it.For those that do not, here ya go:
But here is a little more information on how the game played out. The Nats jumped Gerrit Cole from the very beginning, with Trea Turner getting his chart and singling to start the game, and just like Game 1 of the World Series stole a base for Taco Bell tacos for everyone. Next batter Adam Eaton rolls a single off of Cole's chart and Turner scores 1-0 Nationals. Next batter Anthony Rendon, and Cole makes the dreaded mistake pitch, Rendon's chart and Bang deep fly ball over the train tracks, live look at Cole to see how he is feeling.
Howie Kendrick would also hit a solo home run in the first making it 4-0 before Mad Max even takes the mound. The score would remain that way until the bottom of the 4th When Alex Bregman would hit a Solo home run, 4-1 Nationals. Top of 6 the nationals load the bases, chasing Cole from the game, bringing in the dominant Will Harris to face Juan Soto, first pitch and Harris gives up his chart, Soto rolls a double scoring 2 runs making the game 6-1.
Rendon would tack on his second homer of the game in the 8th and Alex Bregman would do the same for his side as well as a Josh Reddick Solo Homer giving us a final of 8-3 Nationals.
Fun game to play, felt overly Nationals dominant scoring all those runs in the first inning and Cole couldn't keep the runners off base.

Game 2
Verlander starts game 2 in Houston with a 1-2-3 innings, and no hot start for the Nationals this time. Bottom of first Brantley doubles with Springer on first and coach sends him home where he is gunned at the plate 0-0 after 1. Top of 2 Soto leads off with a double, finds his way to third and then is thrown out at home on a fly ball. Defense has found its way to the World Series it seems. Bottom of the third inning and the Astros get to Strasburg in the biggest way as Jose Altuve leads off the inning with a solo home run. An Alex Bregman walk turned into a run on a Carlos Correa single later in the inning making the game 2-0 Houston after 3.
Top of the 4th the Nationals fire back with a Howie Kendrick solo Home run 2-1 Houston still leads.
Bottom of the 4th the Astros end up with the bases loaded and only one out, as Strasburg gets Michael Brantley to ground into a double play. Bottom of the 5th and AL MVP candidate Alex Bregman gets in on the solo home run party 3-1 Astros.
Top 6th Asdrubal Cabrera brings home Juan Soto on a single as the Nationals answer again, 3-2 Astros. Fast forward bottom of the 9th with a two out single from Victor Robles. For the second game in a row George Springer has led the game off with a solo HR, taking Anibal Sanchez deep.
A few batters later Alex Bregman sends a shot to deep left with a two run blast and its now 3-0 Astros before the first inning is even over. Next batter up Yuli Gurriel will not be out done and goes back to back with Bregman, 4-0 Astros. After the Astros send 9 to the plate in the first, bottom of the first lead off batter Trea Turner hits a lead off solo home run of his own and its now 4-1. Following and Adam Eaton walk, Anthony Rendon hits a 2-run home run and were now at 4-3 Astros, the Nationals keep answering back.
Top of third, George Springer singles in Carlos Correa, making it a 5-3 lead for Houston. Jose Altuve followed that up with a 2 run double 7-3 Astros. Bottom of the 8th still 7-3 Howie Kendrick hits a solo home run of Joshua James chasing him from the game making it 7-4. Ryan Pressly comes in and allows a singel to Asdrubal Cabrera before giving up his chart to Yan Gomes and the Yanimal lifts off and sends a two run shot to the bullpen, 7-6 Astros and the Nationals won't go away.
Astros bring in Roberto Osuna for the 4 pitch save and retires Victor Robles to end the 8th. Top of 9 Sean Doolittle in to try and keep the Nats close and Martin Maldonado gets all of that 20 sided dice hitting the 20 and taking a jog around the bases 8-6 Astros. With two outs in the bottom of the 9th Adam Eaton doubles, bringing up Anthony Rendon with a chance to tie the game. Osuna gets Rendon to ground out and that the ball game, Astros even the series at 2 a piece as we head back to Houston.

Game 5
Heading into game 5 we know in the next 3 games if necessary we will see Cole vs Scherzer, Verlander vs Strasburg and Grienke vs Corbin, what team will step up and win 2 games to be World Series Champion.
Cole escapes the top of the first this time, but Max Scherzer wasn't so lucky, walking Alex Bregman to load the bases, and Yuli Gurriel doubling to bring home two runner. Yordan Alvarez would also single driving in Alex Bregman and the Astros lead 3-0 after 1.
Bottom of the 6th Martin Maldonado sinlges bringing home Yuli Gurriel and its now a 4-0 game. Scherzer was cruisign after the first but the 6th inning he got hit again, also walking Jose Altuve with the bases loaded 5-0 Astros through 6. The Nationals get the bases loaded with nobody out in the 7th, sending AJ Hinch to his bullpen pulling Cole after 6 scoreless innings. Yan Gomes doubles off Will Harris scoring 2 Nationals 5-2 Houston still nobody out and another pitching change is coming for Houston. Ryan Pressly comes in and slams the door shut striking out the next 3 batters as we head to the bottom of the 7th.
Nationals bring in Javy Guerra for the bottom of the 7th and Alex Breman goes yard pushing the lead back out to 6-2. Osuna comes in the 9th and closes the game out and the Astros take a pivotal 3-2 series lead.
W: Gerrit Cole

Game 6
Top of the second is where we start and its Alex Bregman hitting a solo home run, his 6th home run of the World Series hes showing his 2019 chart is nothing to mess with.
Bottom of the 2nd Juan Soto leads off with a double, and a few batters later Asdrubal Cabrera doubles to tie the game up at 1.
Top of the 4th, Carlos Correa takes Stephen Strasburg deep solo style and the Astros take the lead 2-1 again.
The thing in playing this series out is the Nationals are relentless, and unlike Bryce Harper they won't go away, and potential NL MVP Anthony Rendon hits a solo shot the very next inning leading off to tie the game back up at 2.
Top of the 5th Stephen Strasburg sinlges off Verlander, and Trea Turner triples bringing hoem Strasburg and the Nationals take a 3-2 lead.
An Adam Eaton deep ground ball scores Trea Turner and the Nationals are now up 4-2 in the 5th. Top of the 6th Jose Altuve doubles to start the innig, the next batter is Michael Brantley and he blasts it out the stadium tying the game once again at 4 a piece.
Top of the 7th Josh Reddick draws a walk, and Jake Marisnick pinch runs for him while Justin Verlander sacrifice bunts him over to second. Turns out all that was unnecessary because George Springer hit a 2 run shot giving the Astros a 6-4 lead.
Bottom of the 8th the Astros go to the bulllpen, Will Harris, who walks Anthony Rendon and then is facing Childish Bambino Juan Soto, and he gives up his chart, and Bambino delivers a 2 run shot tying the game back up at 6.
(When you see Will Harris chart remember this post because hes getting rocked this series but he is a stud)
Ryan Pressly in for the Astros to deal with the mess and he gives a double to Asdrubal Cabrera. 2 outs later Victor Robles shoots one into the gap scoring Cabrera and getting a double of his own 7-6 Nationals.
Sean Doolittle on in the 9th strieks out Marisnick and walks pinch hitter Yordan Alvarez. Retires the next batter and walks Jose Altuve 2 on 2 out. Doolittle faces Brantley and gets teh advantage and Michael Brantley flies out to end the game, we're going back to Houston for GAME 7!!!!!!!!!!
W: Daniel Hudson
L: Will Harris

GAME 7
Wow I knew these two teams were similar in skill but I wasn't expecting to get to 7 games, even though I was hoping for it. Since its the final game and every team would be laying it all on the line, the game 6 starters are allowed to pitch only 1 inning, and the game 5 starters are allowed 2. So if everything goes right, those may be the only pitcher we see in this game.
Top 1st Trea Turner lead off single, followed by a steal of second base. Eaton grounds out and Anthony Rendon doubles scoring Turner and the Nationals take a 1-0 lead.
Bottom of 2nd Josh Reddick draws a bases loaded walk 1-1 game.
Bottom of third and Jose Altuve gets in on the party with a solo home run and the Astros have a 2-1 lead.
Not to be out done in the same inning Carlos Correa hits a 2 run shot 4-1 Astros through 3.
Victor Robles leads off the top of the 5th with a triple looking to get the Nationals rally started. Trea Turner follows it up with a single of his own and hes off and running for a steal and the throws not in time. Grienke retires the next 3 we move to the bottom half 4-2 Houston.
Yordan Alvarez homers in the bottom of the 5th chasing Patrick Corbin out of the game after 4 2/3.
After 6 dominant innings from Grienke the Astros go to the bullpen bringing in Gerrit Cole. Gerrit Cole was cruising along in his second inning of relief before giving up a single to Anthony Rendon. Next he strikes out Juan Soto, then gives up his chart to Howie Kendrick, and Kendrick sends it out of the yard 5-4 Astros. Will Harris comes in to finish the inning and send it on off to the bottom 8th.
Strasburg comes in for the bottom of the 8th and gives up a solo shot to George Springer who continues to mash in the world series 6-4 Astros. We head to the top of the 9th here in Houston 6-4 Astros and Justin Verlander is coming out of the bullpen to close out this World Series, Roberto Osuna is still warming in the pen just in case. First batter Brian Dozier goes down swinging, followed by Victor Robles who singles and the tying run is coming to the plate. Verlander walks Trea Turner and the tying run is now on base with Adam Eaton coming to bat. The Astros are going to Roberto Osuna, and he hits Adam Eaton, bases loaded one out and Anthony Rendon coming to the plate. Rendon slaps one over the second basemens head Robles scores, and Turner scores 6-6 tie ball game and the sharks are snapping.
Ryan Pressly coming on for the Astros now looking to finish off the top of the 9th with Eaton on second and Rendon on first, here comes Juan Soto. Soto goes down swinging and with two outs here comes Howie Kendrikc again, and Pressly strikes him out too. Headed to the bottom of the 9th tied up at 6the Nationals are going to Daniel Hudson. Yuli Gurriel is the first batter and he flies out, up next is Carlos Correa and he goes down swinging. The big man Yordan Alvarez is coming up looking to end the game and series and he flies out to deep center. Extra innings in the world series. Top of the 10 Ryan Pressly escapes a bases loaded jam to keep the game tied at 6 going to the bottom half and Anibal Sanchez is coming in. Heading to the 11th and Wade Miley is coming in for the Astros. Rendon goes down swinging, and Juan Soto gets his chart and hits bomb, Nationals lead 7-6.
Sanchez stays out for the Nats and retires the first two batters and then Alex Bregman comes up and hits his 7th home run of the series to tie the game. Nationals are bringing in Doolittle.
Yuli Gurriel doubles off Doolittle and here comes Correa and Doolittle strikes him out. 7-7 as we head to the 12th inning and Wade Miley is still on the mound while proceeding to retire the side in order. Bottom of the 12 the Nats turn to Roenis Elias who gets Alvarez to fly out and Maldonado to strike out. Josh Reddick steps to the plate and gets his chart, the dice hits the table bouncing around and twirling in many directions ,numbers flying by, and 20!!! Walk Off home run in the bottom of the 12th inning and the Astros win the World Series!!! What a series that was!!!!
Wow that was amazing and so much fun. These two teams truly put on an epic performance, and if this actually happened might go down as the best world series ever. Like I said earlier cards are still in production but keep an eye out in the next month for them and get ready for some great showdown fun like this series. I think MVP has to go to Alex Bregman and all his home runs, but George Springer, Josh Reddick, Howie Kendrick, Juan Soto, Anthony Rendon, Jose Altuve all played phenomenal this series. LETS GO SHOWDOWN!!!!!
DAMN haha that was exciting. I hope it does goes 7 games because the more baseball the better (even though i'm still salty).
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see these cards and be able to play it out myself!
THAT WAS AMAZING, praying for this to happen IRL
