My all-time favorite cut out that I've done, for one of my all-time favorite players, MVP Yelich!!!
However, 2019 Yelich surpassed the MVP and took his spot on the All Decade team!
Lineup: What a stellar lineup!!! Leading off is Carlos Gomez, who had an electric few seasons in Milwaukee -- he's got speed and extra base pop, setting the table for 2019 Yelich and MVP Ryan Braun!!! They're the best 1-2 punch in the NL, and they both bring absolute MVP contender cards to the table. After you get through them, BAM, there's OB 10, HR at 17 Prince Fielder waiting to bash some homers. Rookie sensation Hiura brings an OB 9, HR at 17 card to the five hole... I know I'm excited to see what kind of cards he puts up in the 2020s! Even though he only had one year in Milwaukee, Yasmani Grandal put together the best catcher season of the decade for the Brewers. He's an OB 10, HR at 18 with an average arm. A pair of OB 8, HR at 16 studs are hitting in the 7-8 spots for some power. Rounding it all out is Jonathan Villar, who could be hitting leadoff, but sets the whole lineup again nicely! Overall -- it's a great lineup! Tons of power, tons of speed, and no weak points. As a fan, I'm licking my chops at putting this team into action!!Rotation: Somehow, some way, the Brewers get the benefit of four Tier 2 starters, with three of them coming in as Control 6 guys. Fortunately for the Brewers, Colby did his calcs differently than I do, and that's how Grienke, Peralta, and Gallardo all got such amazing cards. I'm more than happy to honor these cards and use them in action -- plus, this 2012 Gallardo won my last league's NL Cy Young as the Breweres #4 starter! Also in the mix is 2017 Chase Anderson, who put together a stellar Tier 2 card! With the epic lineup and incredible bullpen, this rotation is definitely good enough to make the Brewers full-on World Series contenders!
Bullpen: As good as the lineup is, the bullpen may be the strength of the team. They've got three Tier 1 relievers to utilize, including a STRONG 2017 Corey Knebel, bringing a beastly "Pedro 01" type closer card. Then there's the very unique Josh Hader, who's 2 IP makes him a complete weapon (especially against the middle to bottom of lineups). Broxton is also a complete stud. Then they've got a couple Control 5, Tier 2 guys to eat up innings and shut guys down. There's not a weak link and it'll be shocking if the Brewers ever have a guy worse than Tier 2 ever pitching this season.
Overall, I'm definitely pleased with my favorite team!!! The Brewers come in at a (shocking) 7790 points!!! Yes, I'm as surprised as you are that the Brewers were so good, although credit must be given to Colby's Grinke, Gallardo, and Peralta cards for boosting the point totals... as well as that epic Josh Hader.... but as a Milwaukee fan, you won't hear me complaining! What's shocking is this isn't even a product of bias, the Brewers just happened to produce a lot of weird outlier cards across the Decade and it's a shame they couldn't put it all together for ONE LOUSY WORLD SERIES BERTH! But hey, Craig Counsell is the NL's best manager and Yelich is an undoubted contender for its best player, so let's see what the 2020s have in store! Until then, Milwaukee is unquestionably the chief contender with the Dodgers for the NL Pennant!
