1996 New York Yankees

It has happened! I have finally completed the base 1996 set that I have been working on for years. With a lot of help from photoshop and the showdownbot! And the final team is the team that everyone loves to hate, The New York Yankees. Again I had FOILS made before the bot so Paul O'Neil being a low cost FOIL was not my intention but I was not going to change it. The Yankees get 4 FOILS including a few other studs. I love the Derek Jeter rookie of the year card for them. Also benefit of being in New York there were a lot of good photos to choose from. I think the catchers came out especially well seeing as I like to use them in their gear. Only Sojo was an odd picture I had trouble with. I hope you  enjoy them as well as enjoy the 1996 set in general! If there are any 1996 players you want to see in addition to the ones I released I am doing an LE set. So let me know!

1996 Chicago White Sox

Here we go! Only 1 team left after this one. But lets not get ahead of ourselves. This team is very nice. Few FOILS made the cut for this team. Solid closer. Handful of 9obs and a very powerful 11ob Frank Thomas. Then you have a random cheap 10ob. The team also has decent pitching.

1996 Minnesota Twins

Another rough team. Don't worry it gets better from here. But there is a few A speed guys and 1 Foil. Chuck Knoblauch is a beast of a card. Also young Radke is nice to see. Its interesting to see some 9OBs here.

1996 Detroit Tigers

 Woof! This is a rough team. They were the worst team in the AL. There is basically only 1 shining light on this team and that is Bobby Higginson. Pride is ok. And it is cool to see Tony Clark the rookie. But the rest of this team is a hard pass.

1996 Kansas City Royals

Even with a below .500 record. The Royals have a lot of players that made the cut for cards. The team in general is as their record showed. Below average. Though they have a bunch of speed A guys. They have one decent pitcher and a draftable Catcher in Mike Macfarlane. What do you think? Only 4 teams left.

1996 Colorado Rockies

My favorite team coming in hot! I'm back from vacation so I should average 1-2 per week until complete. The Rockies have 1 monster stud and a handful of power bats with A speed. Seems like an overall oddly fast team. And like every Rockies team. The pitching is horrible. And some of these players closely remind me of their 2000 counter parts.

1996 Cincinnati Reds

Next up is a classic. The Cincinnati Reds. Not a bad team, not a great team either. Some decent value cards on this team. And of course Barry Larking is a stud. It is nice to see a large roster of players to make the cut. Who is your favorite non Barry Larkin card.

1996 Boston Red Sox

Woa some big power (steroid bats) in this lineup. Also a red sox Roger Clemens. Everyone also knows I love my boy Jeff Frye, always bringing a value bat to a lineup. The lineup is overall really good. Lots of good 8,9 batters even some with A speed.

1996 Texas Rangers

NICE! Now we are back at a good team. This team is very fun and loads of good cards. It also looks visually good. Always nice to have an MVP on your team. You taking Pudge?

1996 Pittsburgh Pirates

This team in my original mark up had no FOILs :( but I had to give it to at least 1 person so at the time Jeff King was the highest so he got the FOIL so if you were wondering why he did that is why. The team itself is lack luster. Without Denny Neagle they really don't have a star. Some value A speed guys are nice to have. And see RC Jason Kendall is fun. But overall a disappointment.

1996 Philadelphia Phillies

Sorry for the late post. Work is crazy! But you are not missing much with the Phillies. Sad to say the only real highlight on this team is Curt Schilling and Jim Eisenreich. I even had to finagle a guy onto this team because not enough players even made the list. Plus never been a fan of this pinkish maroon color. Give me powder blues though.

1996 San Diego Padres

Here we go! now this team is really fun. Team has multiple FOILS and probably could've gotten more. Fast and powerful with decent starting pitching with one awesome bullpen. This should be fun to play with. Also really like the look of these cards, the color reads well.

1996 Baltimore Orioles

I'm back after a week off! Coming at you fast with the Orioles. A nice 18 team set. Always good to see Pay Me Bobby Bonilla in the set. And the no proof of Steroids Brady Anderson. We do have 2 great foils in this set with Brady and Robbie Alomar. As well a solid 1B not a DH Palmeiro. Always good to see a decent Orioles team versus whatever they are today...

1996 New York Mets

I really like the way the New York Mets came out. There are some very high salary cards on this list that just missed getting FOILS at the time. So sadly only 1 FOIL though they could have easily had 3-4. Also some crazy low value puntable cards to fill in positions. Let me know what you think.

1996 Florida Marlins

I know you guys think I missed a day... well I did. Very busy these days. But hey! we are at the halfway point. And that halfway point is the Florida Marlins. A very small team set with not a lot of qualifying players. But the ones they have are boss! They have 4 FOILS!!! It's Hot. Plus the cards look great with the color.

1996 Seattle Mariners

If you thought last weeks team was good. This team is even better. Its also great to see all these amazing players back on the Mariners. Young Arod and a beautiful Griffey. Got the 11OB Edgar. Only wish Randy Johnson made the list for the team in 1996. Maybe you will all get lucky for an LE set. This team is a beast.

1996 Cleveland Indians

Finally we have come to my favorite team. Back in the 90s the tribe was a power house of bats and 1996 is no exception. They have 4 - 10OB hitters. They have 4 foils and a stud of a lineup. Also if the bot went higher than A speed 20 you would see Kenny Lofton breaking that, he had 75 sbs that year. What is interesting to see is the +3 Omar and the random Jeff Kent sighting.

1996 San Francisco Giants

Alright alright whose ready for another 11OB? I mean that's the only reason you are looking at the 1996 giants right? The rest of the team is average at best and in my opinion below average. But it sure is nice to see a young Bonds.

1996 Montreal Expos

Trying to keep up with these at 3x a week. Might be a struggle but still going strong right now. Expos are always fun to release. Especially seeing old school Pedro. Some fun old school players. But overall an average at best team.

1996 Los Angeles Dodgers

 This team has some power houses on it. The dodgers come in with 6 Foils including ROY of the year Todd Hollandsworth. And possibly my favorite looking card in Hideo Nomo. It just fits the card frame so well. Also greg gagne looks like Travis Fryman...I said it!
