2011 Set - San Francisco Giants

The Giants are a great example of a team on the edge that went all in for the Pennant Run. They finished just two games out of the Wild Card behind the eventual World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals.

The two-headed monster rotation is supported by a few more solid starters, and any leads are protected by a good bullpen headed by 330-point reliever

Sergio Romo. The Base Set lineup may struggle to score runs though, as there is not too much offense to speak of outside of Pablo Sandoval. (Check out his “alt-foil” card, the first one to make an appearance in this set.) Freddy Sanchez is a budget bat I love at 2B. Brandon Crawford isn't a great bat, but his card has one of my favorite cutouts in the set.

Fortunately, reinforcements arrive in the Pennant Run set, including trade acquisition Carlos Beltran and newly-healthy Buster Posey. I’m curious whether Posey or Rangers’ catcher Mike Napoli goes first in a draft.

Foils: Carlos Beltran (PR), Matt Cain, Tim Lincecum, Buster Posey (PR), Pablo Sandoval

  1. KUNG FU PANDA - great looking card (and perfect nickname)!

I remember in our old 2011 card league, the Giants were stuck in .500 doldrums thanks to the weak offense, but so many good pitching options (Romo must be the best reliever!!) while PR Posey is a first round lock for a draft!
