30 for 30 WORLD SERIES

After a LONG delay, I'm finally here to announce the results of the premier 30 for 30 season's World Series. In the end, the simulation ran for 101 total seasons. 57 of those seasons have been fully completed, but the remaining 44 have playoff series still to simulate. Unfortunately, a broken computer for our simulation star has been delaying that, but there's no reason we can't start by FINALLY announcing the conclusion to the season we (had) all been following so closely -- Red Sox v. Diamondbacks, just like we all expected!!

Let's get into it!

GAME ONE: Arizona 5, Boston 4

The first game goes to the NL West champs, with five different players scoring and five different players driving in a run. JD Martinez was the lone HR for Arizona, but it came at the ideal time -- walkoff HR in the bottom of the ninth, two outs, against star closer and first round draft pick Koji!! Both starters gave up 4 runs in 6 innings, a sign at these lineup's collective depth.

The game one hero, JD went 1-3 with 2 BB and the walk off BOMB to give Arizona a 1-0 series lead

GAME TWO: Boston 6 Arizona 3

The Red Sox strike back and take one on the road, sending the series back to Fenway tied up 1-1. Jason Varitek was the star player of this game, with his three-run HR breaking a 3-3 tie and putting the Red Sox on top for good in the top of the 8th. Kevin Youkilis added a HR too, giving him 2 dingers through 2 games.

Varitek went 3-4 but his 3 R blast in the 8th was his biggest hit of the night

GAME THREE: Arizona 4 Boston 1

The DBacks traveled across three timezones without losing any sleep or energy, absolutely shutting down the Red Sox in game 3. Zac Gallen went 6 strong innings, giving up only one run on 5 hits and 2 walks while amounting 11 Ks. Justin Upton was responsible for the majority of the offensive damage with a three-run homer in the 2nd inning, which was all the run support needed for Gallen. AJ Pollack added a HR of his own to complete the scoring.

1-0 in the WS with a 1.5 ERA and 11 K/6 IP

GAME FOUR: Boston 3 Arizona 1

Well, well, well... how the turn tables. Just like that, the series is tied again thanks to an epic performance by fourth starter Danny Darwin -- 7 IP, 1 run on just 3 hits (no walks). A David Ortiz two-run double gave the Red Sox all the advantage they'd need in the game, and just like that... we're looking at a best-of-three situation for all the marbles!

Absolute stud giving up only three baserunners in 7 strong innings of work

GAME FIVE: Boston 6 Arizona 1

Boston is leaving Fenway up 3-2 after a dominate Game 5 win. Nomar Garciapara went absolutely off in this game, scoring a pair of runs and smashing a grand slam off of Randy Johnson in the third inning to break the game wide open. Rumor is that the ball flew over the Green Monster and still hasn't come down. Randy is disappointed in himself after surrendering 5 runs in 7 IP, while ace Derek Lowe gave up only one run in 7 IP on the other side. Now Arizona turns to Schilling in game 6 to avoid Boston waiting 0 years to take home its first 30 for 30 championship!

Epic game from the Boston DH -- 4-4, 2B, Grand Slam, 4 RBI, 2 R

GAME SIX: Boston 12 Arizona 11 (14 innings)

In what has to be one of the most epic World Series closeout games in history, the Red Sox triumph in incredible fashion 12-11 over the Diamondbacks! It was a 2-1 advantage for the DBacks when Curt Schilling left the mound in the middle of the seventh inning, fist pumping without a drop of blood on his socks, turning the ball over to the DBacks best relievers to close the game out and force a game 7... but then, disaster! Jose Valverde blows it in the 8th, giving up a run and it's suddenly 2-2. Then in the 10th, the Red Sox look like they busted it open when they scored four runs on Matt Mantei, who got yanked after only .2 IP, for a 6-2 lead... but Arizona then dramatically poured on four runs to tie it in the bottom half. The Red Sox then scored three in the 12th, off a 3-run blast by Jacoby Ellsbury... but then Arizona answered with a 3-run bottom half, evening the score again at 9-9. However, in the top of the 12th, the Red Sox managed to push across 3 more runs thanks to a two-run Youkilis HR and a solo shot by Mookie... and the DBacks only managed to squeeze across two runs while long reliever Ramon Martinez hung as tough as he could to secure the W and the World Series trophy.

Lots of great performances, but I'll spotlight Ortiz for his 3-6 with 1 HR 3 RBI 3 R game!

AND WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT, THE RED SOX ARE CELEBRATING LIKE CRAZY!!!! But we gotta turn now to the field to hand out the World Series MVP Trophy

WORLD SERIES MVP:
3 HR in three different games, 5 RBI, 5 R

I hope y'all enjoyed this belated recap and the season as a whole -- I'm going to have much more truncated stats/information on seasons coming soon. My plan was to wait until all the sims were done so I could do seasons in order (the ones that are waiting needed play-ins to be done by hand, so that took a while), but there's no reason not to get more info out there!!!

So if you're a manager disappointed in your performance in this "Season Zero", chin up -- there's 100 more years coming where you can win a World Series. But for now, let's celebrate the Red Sox and their manager Win Dance Repeat for triumphing in the initial year!!! Way to go, good sir!
