Challenge - For Sale By Owner

For Sale By Owner

Hello boys, I'm back! My last challenge may have been almost three years ago, and it's probably an accident that I still have permission to post here, but it's looking to be a long offseason, which means its a perfect time for a new challenge.

Y'all have been busy since I've been gone, with showdown bots and an exploding discord, so I thought I'd poke around and see about a new challenge. For this one I made a custom card with that lovely bot, with hilariously fun consequences as seen below!

Here's Chris Sale, a man whose career has been defined by two tenures, one with the White Sox and one with the Red Sox. Should Sale ever make the Hall, he'll go in with the Sox! In my first challenge in almost 3 years, we're going to face off against career Chris Sale.

The Challenge

Your job is to score as many runs as you can against 5 innings of career Chris Sale. I know, we've done run challenges before. The fun here is in how you'll source your cards. Instead of pulling cards from your stash or from this blog, you'll be going shopping. Indeed, you've just been given $20 (not really, just pretend) to buy your lineup from internet sellers. Every card in your lineup must be visibly for sale (meaning there's a picture of the card you are using in the listing).

  1. You must source at least nine 00/01 cards without "spending" more than $20 (including shipping, I see that Brady Anderson listing).  Y'all, this game got really expensive in the past couple years.
  2. You can only use 1 card per listing, and the front of the card must be visible in the listing.
  3. Listings must be for immediate purchase (no auctions unless there's a buy it now option, in which case you'd use the Buy It Now price).
  4. Your lineup must fill every position, plus any DH as long as said DH complies with the rules of the challenge.
  5. You must use expert gameplay rules if you know 'em. Otherwise, stick to what you know.
  6. Sale gets your defense.
  7. You must post your lineup, where you sourced your cards, and how many runs Sale gave up.
  8. Have Fun!
