Welcome to the Greatest MLB Showdown Project

Welcome fellow baseball fans! Here at the Greatest MLB Showdown Project, we aim to provide some answers to the nagging historical questions so many people have: which teams are truly the greatest of all-time?
Rather than continue debating the merits of various historical and modern teams, we decided to take matters into our own hands (and meager photoshop skills). Although we've just begun, the goal is to create and upload the best teams and players from history for all baseball fans to enjoy. All teams will be done in the 2000-01 style of MLB Showdown, which always yielded the most accurate simulation results for us in the past. The first teams will be posted soon, we've got several seasons charts all finished and are putting those players into our uniquely designed form now!

Curious how the 2016 Cubs would do against the 2004 Red Sox? We've got you covered. Want to replay a postseason you loved? We'll be rolling out former playoff teams! Thought it'd be fun to form a Braves super team from the 1990s? Well just pick and choose which players from which years you want! Know a quirky player season or just a fun team that you really want to see created in Showdown form? Just let us know in the messages and we'll get the creation process started!

Hopefully this can be an interactive experience that adds to Showdown and general baseball fans collections, debates, and overall love for the sport! You can find me on twitter for comments/questions as well @mlbshowdown2016

  1. A couple teams to request:
    (1) 1982 Brewers
    (2) 1974-75 BIG RED MACHINE!
    (3) 1998 Astros (maybe a surprising pick, but Randy Johnson and 100 wins!)
    (4) 2001 DBacks

  2. Just curious what you guys do with the cards after you print them off to use them easier. My son is just getting into baseball card baseball with dice and i cant wait to show him mlb showdown. Do you glue them to old baseball cards or cut out cardboards? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    1. Great question! I've had great success with the glue the card onto another one, I've used a lot of duplicate/not-so-great original Showdown cards so I have a cool back to it. The other thing that's worked well for me is immediately putting them into a card binder after cutting them out. They're unusable in any windy conditions, but if you're playing indoors the cards tend to work find as plain paper... but the glue onto card route has been the most durable/best looking option.

I hope you and your son have been having fun! Should be getting some more teams done soon as I settle into work!

  4. Looking for any insight as to how stats/values are picked for each card and what Photoshop templates is being used. I would love to start contributing to this project myself.

    1. Glad to hear you'd love to contribute, we're all about providing a community to work with! There's not as much a Photoshop template as having enough cut outs down at this point that it's easy to cut and paste. Honestly, I say just play around in Photoshop (depending on your level of experience) and it'll happen! Shoot me a DM on Twitter or email, and let's start a dialogue about maybe pitching in some posts in the future! Always love more passionate people contributing!
