The tournament will begin next Friday, and the cutoff for rosters to be submitted by midnight on Wednesday. The pools are released as it will be a small round robin. 4 three team pools. Winner of each advance to a single elimination round to determine who will meet in the finals.
So here are the tournament rules:
Must have 4 Starters and your rotation will be set by points
Every fielding position must be filled and a DH can be anyone
Must have 3 relievers and 1 closer
Roster size range from 17-20 managers choice
Bench players can be any position player or reliever(not closer)
Team must remain under 5000 points, no discount for bench
Teams can only attempt 5 steals per game, and 2 in an inning(single+ doesn't count against)
I will play all the games
Once a player is drafted they are ineligible for other teams
For the first time in my tournaments, different versions of a player can be drafted by others, catch the 4 different Manny Ramirez in the draft pool for example.
Spreadsheet will be updated as much as possible as I see the teams submitted
Create a team name to go with your team
Seeding will also be random
Managers interested in joining can either email me your lineup @mrunevit@kent.edu, or submit it here in the comments section
Here is the link to the spreadsheet for those that want to build their team: The last tab on the sheet will have all the submitted teams on it incase you want to scout the competition:

This is exciting news. I noticed there are 2 versions of the Jackie Robinson '49 edition. Both are worth 450. Are they almost the same card, with one being an A speed the other is a 23 speed. Everything else is the same.
ReplyDeleteGood catch it was the same card just entered twice.

Management Style: This is a very fast team with a lot of defense. The heart of this lineup has a lot of power, but the second half suffers. Pitching is pretty solid. If this is a one and done tourmanent, pull out all the stops. However, if this is a best of tournament, be sure to plan the bullpen usage for when Joba pitches. Go Cobra Chickens!

Batting order, just wanted to reserve my players first.
Can I bring Jansen in in the 8th every game and he pitches until the game ends? Is that legal?
Deleteits legal, he loses 1 control for every inning he pitches after teh first
DeleteOk great, that's my plan then. Starters will go 7. Thanks for organizing this!

DeleteWent heavy on the bullpen. Use whenever needed. Take advantage of the speed on the team. Take extra bases and go for the steal with A speed on any catcher under 10 arm. Run more on the Ace pitchers. Looking forward to seeing how this team plays. Starters and pen should keep us in most games

Morris and Cone are going 8 with Izzy to close. Clement and Kluber are going 7 with Izzy going 2 those games to close. Is that even legal? If not, they will also go 8 and Izzy the 9th.
Other relievers are there for mop up duty only
yeah its legal, they just tire like normal

Hope I don't get this guy first round! Dangerous team.
Deletethat rotation will be hard to crack
DeleteAfter being more offense-minded last tournament, I went all in on pitching. Just hope I can actually put together some runs given that I only have 2/3 of a lineup...
DeleteDo you guys ever print the custom cards you make? If so, what do you print them on and are any of the decks available for purchase?
ReplyDeleteI tried my hand at making a 2017 deck, got most of the hitters' cards done but have stalled out on the pitching for the time being.
so what i do is put them in a google doc and just print them on regular paper, then ill cut them out and put them on top of a strategy card and place it in a soft sleeve
DeleteI printed out a bunch yesterday and for some reason the stats come out kind of blurry :/. I can read them but it isn’t as crisp as I would like the numbers to be.
ReplyDeleteI have had that problem in that past when the image i have saved is small. Make sure when you save the photo you click it and it will present a bigger saved photo. Those images will removed the blurry charts.
DeleteI’ve had that issue sometimes as well. I’m not sure why
ReplyDeleteAlright I'm excited about this one... we're not great, but at least we're repping B-More hard. I present:
ReplyDeleteThis Is Birdland (mostly)
Lineup (2490 Pts):
C - P. Borders [30]
1B - R. Palmeiro [300]
2B - R. Alomar [320]
3B - R. Knight [210]
SS - J. Igelsias [150]
LF - F. Robinson [610]
RF - R. Henderson [340]
CF - K. Lofton [300]
DH - H. Baines [230]
Rotation (1500 Pts):
SP1 - M. Mussina [480]
SP2 - B. Henry [400]
SP3 - U. Jimenez [360]
SP4 - J. deGrom [260]
Bullpen (900 Pts):
CL - R. Myers [230]
RP - A. Miller [300]
RP - A. Benitez [190]
RP - A. Rhodes [180]
Bench - 110 Pts
V. Guerrero [80]
Y. Gomes [30]
I believe half if not more of these cards are Orioles on the card and others played for the Os at some point in their career (Miller, Ubaldo, etc.)
Starting pitching is nothing to write home about (this is the Orioles here!) but risking it on some IP 4 guys and go to the bullpen early and often, they're pretty good.
Pinch hit Vlad for the C and then sub in Gomes every game late in the game whenever he comes up. Steal often with Rickey and Kenny. That's about it! Looking forward to this one... hoping we can win some games and bring Chris Davis some good karma :)
batting order?
DeleteOh my bad totally forgot. Let's do:
DeleteLofton
Alomar
Henderson
Robinson
Palmeiro
Baines
Knight
Iglesias
Borders
Also I went Frank Robinson for the Orioles but wow how is that Bryce Harper only 10 points more than Frank?
ReplyDelete- Both OB 11, 18+ HR
- Harper has 1 less out, 1 more double, a Single+ when Frank does not, is LF/RF+1 while Frank is +0, and is Speed A to Frank's Speed C 11
Wow - to me that constitutes more like a 100-150 point difference. Harper is a pretty darn good steal in my opinion (and Frank maybe a little overpriced, but I'll roll with him!)
That’s like I was saying in the post some of these cards were made at different times and by different people so there will be some stealsin value
DeleteFor sure. I had never seen the list before and am having a lot of fun with it. May make my own little 8 team tournament from them!
DeleteWas this tournament played? Did I miss the results?
ReplyDeleteHey sorry, I posted the results Over on my twitter page, the Bandidos defeated the Dirtbags 3-0 from a gem from David Cone
