2019 Bot Set -- AL WEST

It's finally here, the final division post in the 2019 Bot Set! The final five teams have some clunkers, but it's got (quite arguably) the best single season Showdown squad ever assembled. And no, that's not hyperbolic! So check out and enjoy the final teams from the 2019 season, the AL West:

1996 New York Yankees

It has happened! I have finally completed the base 1996 set that I have been working on for years. With a lot of help from photoshop and the showdownbot! And the final team is the team that everyone loves to hate, The New York Yankees. Again I had FOILS made before the bot so Paul O'Neil being a low cost FOIL was not my intention but I was not going to change it. The Yankees get 4 FOILS including a few other studs. I love the Derek Jeter rookie of the year card for them. Also benefit of being in New York there were a lot of good photos to choose from. I think the catchers came out especially well seeing as I like to use them in their gear. Only Sojo was an odd picture I had trouble with. I hope you  enjoy them as well as enjoy the 1996 set in general! If there are any 1996 players you want to see in addition to the ones I released I am doing an LE set. So let me know!

2019 NPB Japanese Baseball set Part 2 of 2 Pacific League

Part 2 of 2 will cover the Pacific League. The Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks finished second to the Saitama Seibu Lions, however, they beat them 4-1 in the playoffs to advance to the Japan Series. Both teams were loaded with 6 foils apiece. The Hawks then swept the Giants in the Japan Series. The league MVP was Tomoya Mori of the Lions, who gives you the rare 10 OB catcher. And the best player in the entire set is on the worst team, so you'll have to make it through everyone to see (or skip to the bottom).

Saitama Seibu Lions 80-62-1 1st place Pacific League

A really strong team, with some standout cards including the aforementioned MVP, Tomoya Mori. I love the Mori card. You give up a bit of defense at catcher, but you have to love the bat. Shuta Tonosaki is one of my favorite cards from an aesthetics and play perspective. Might be a touch expensive for an 8 OB, but I think you get enough out of him to accept the cost. Hotaka Yamakawa walks a lot and he homers a lot. One of those cards that probably frustrates you, but also can carry your team if he gets hot. Sosuke Genda has another standout defensive card. Shogo Akiyama had a really solid season before he headed stateside to play for the Reds. I know Yuji Kaneko will be drafted early, even if he can only Single+. Zach Neal had a 10 point card in the 2020 set, but was great in 2019 and gets the '00 PR Bret Saberhagen special.

Foils: Tomoya Mori, Sosuke Genda, Shuta Tonosaki, Hotaka Yamakawa, Shogo Akiyama, Zach Neal

1996 Chicago White Sox

Here we go! Only 1 team left after this one. But lets not get ahead of ourselves. This team is very nice. Few FOILS made the cut for this team. Solid closer. Handful of 9obs and a very powerful 11ob Frank Thomas. Then you have a random cheap 10ob. The team also has decent pitching.

2019 NPB Japanese Baseball set Part 1 Central League

The 2021 NPB regular season is set to wrap up soon (they took a couple weeks off for the Olympics) so what better time to look back at the 2019 season? Just like the 2020 season, the Softbank Hawks won the Japan series over the Yomiuri Giants.

Hayato Sakamoto headlined the Giants and took the MVP award in the Central league. Oddly enough, no one was awarded the Sawamura Award for the best pitcher overall (it covers both Central and Pacific League). As no one met the award committee's, "high standards". It's especially odd when you see Yoshinobu Yamamoto's card when I cover the Pacific League. I suspect they overlooked him since he was only 20 years old in 2019 and Japan really likes to acknowledge the veterans. If you recall, Yamamoto had a great card in 2020. And he's been the best pitcher again in 2021 (1.46 ERA in 186 innings at the time of writing this post). I'm really hoping he makes the jump to the MLB at some point.

I went with a 2001 aesthetic this time around. Although the way I did the points stayed the same so that the sets could be used together, if desired. I ran a few multiple regression analysis models for the points to try and eliminate outliers, so I am hoping I cleaned up that area from the previous set I made. There are a few cards I would adjust from that set (which is on TTS available for anyone to use). I believe the photographs I was able to use are a step up from 2020, as I realized I could search for names using Japanese characters (through Google translate) and I would find a much better sampling to select from.

Special thanks to all the card creators. Matt, Peter, Bob, Jeff, Matt Gula. And anyone else from the discord that weighed in on design choices. As always, I welcome feedback!

Let's start with the Central League!

Yomiuri Giants 77-64-2 1st place Central League. Lost to the Hawks in the Japan Series.

Some familiar faces on this team from the 2020 set. The aforementioned MVP winner Sakamoto had a prodigious season and card to match. Shun Yamaguchi is a workhorse and would be someone's early draft pick. Hirokazu Sawamura came over and pitched for the Red Sox in 2021 and gets a solid, if not spectacular, card with the Giants. Tomoyuki Sugano won the Sawamura Award in 2017, 2018, and the Best 9 award in 2020, but in 2019 was only so-so.

Foils: Hayato Sakamoto, Yoshihiro Maru, Shun Yamaguchi

1996 Minnesota Twins

Another rough team. Don't worry it gets better from here. But there is a few A speed guys and 1 Foil. Chuck Knoblauch is a beast of a card. Also young Radke is nice to see. Its interesting to see some 9OBs here.

1994 Super Sim - Playoff Preview

The playoffs are set to start this weekend in the 1994 season, and do we have some outstanding matchups, a couple series that if they don't make it to a game five will be very disappointing. So going into this weekend, and the next week I will be looking to hammer through these playoffs. I made a personal schedule so I can keep tabs on pitcher tiring, especially the relievers. Every team has a 25 man roster, which for the post season, rotations will go from 5 to 4 man rotations, allowing the 5th starter to slide into a bullpen role. If a bullpen pitcher goes over their IP they will need however many days off for how many IP they go over. Say a 1ip throws 3 innings, he will need 2 days off before he is eligible to pitch again. The only way he could pitch is if every pitcher on the roster has already been used, in that case he will now be a -1IP while entering the game. Lets get into these outstanding matchups, I will be creating a thread in the discord for the playoffs so anyone that wants to follow along will be able to see where to access it.

The "30 for 30" League -- Introduction and FIRST ROUND

Thanks to the creation of the BOT and Savard's amazing simulator, a long-standing dream of mine is finally on the cusp of fruition: a 30 team draft league, where the pool of players a team can draft comes from their franchise rosters of the past 30 years (1992 to 2021). Amazingly, thirty different managers all signed up and participated in a 25 round draft!

Now lets get to the draft:

With the FIRST PICK, the Kansas City Royals selected Zack Grienke:

1994 Super Sim- What If The Strike Never Happened?!

I was five years old in 1994 when the strike shut down the Major League Season, many things were going on that season that were unanswered. Oddly enough I didn't know much about this season due to me being so young, but this past 2 years has been the renaissance for the great game of MLB showdown, this blog was the first step for me, finding it and connecting with the wonderful people that run the blog. Then myself making interactive leagues where the community drafted and I played the games out led to me making a discord for everyone to have one collective space to talk trash to each other. Sadly the pandemic happened but a tiny glimmer was the explosion of the discord and MLB showdown and all the cool things that came with it. Two of the biggest things was a discord member SavardTheGoat created a super sim code where he can sim a full 162 game season before you can even think of the rosters. Secondly, was an absolute gamechanger and that was the creation of the Showdown Bot by the wonderful Matt Gula. What happens when you combine these two super powers together?  The correct answer is many things, but the first one for you all to find out about is taking the stats and games played from prior to the strike and having the sim engine simulate the remaining games of the season to get to the playoffs.

1996 Detroit Tigers

Woof! This is a rough team. They were the worst team in the AL. There is basically only 1 shining light on this team and that is Bobby Higginson. Pride is ok. And it is cool to see Tony Clark the rookie. But the rest of this team is a hard pass.

1996 Kansas City Royals

Even with a below .500 record. The Royals have a lot of players that made the cut for cards. The team in general is as their record showed. Below average. Though they have a bunch of speed A guys. They have one decent pitcher and a draftable Catcher in Mike Macfarlane. What do you think? Only 4 teams left.

1996 Colorado Rockies

My favorite team coming in hot! I'm back from vacation so I should average 1-2 per week until complete. The Rockies have 1 monster stud and a handful of power bats with A speed. Seems like an overall oddly fast team. And like every Rockies team. The pitching is horrible. And some of these players closely remind me of their 2000 counter parts.

Once Upon A Time in Queens- 1986 New York Mets

As the premiere for the ESPN 30 for 30 documentary on the 1986 Mets is debuting tonight, I figured lets look at them in Showdown form, thanks to our wonderful friend over at the Showdown bot. While they were a great team on the field, off of the field is where the drama really comes from this team. This Mets team finished first in the National League with a record of 108-54 on their way to a World Series Championship. I made this team a long time ago with a post, but no with the bot I thought I would revisit some of these classic teams.

Lineup: When I think of the 80s baseball lineup this comes to mind, not a ton of pop through the lineup and a very consistent on base through out, especially if you dip into the bench, you can have a lineup with an 8 ob base as the lowest on base through the lineup. Two 9OB speed As leading to Keith Hernandez is a nice way to start a lineup, and the great pop on the chart of Strawberry is a great set up for this team.

1996 Cincinnati Reds

Next up is a classic. The Cincinnati Reds. Not a bad team, not a great team either. Some decent value cards on this team. And of course Barry Larking is a stud. It is nice to see a large roster of players to make the cut. Who is your favorite non Barry Larkin card.

1996 Boston Red Sox

Woa some big power (steroid bats) in this lineup. Also a red sox Roger Clemens. Everyone also knows I love my boy Jeff Frye, always bringing a value bat to a lineup. The lineup is overall really good. Lots of good 8,9 batters even some with A speed.

1996 Texas Rangers

NICE! Now we are back at a good team. This team is very fun and loads of good cards. It also looks visually good. Always nice to have an MVP on your team. You taking Pudge?

1996 Pittsburgh Pirates

This team in my original mark up had no FOILs :( but I had to give it to at least 1 person so at the time Jeff King was the highest so he got the FOIL so if you were wondering why he did that is why. The team itself is lack luster. Without Denny Neagle they really don't have a star. Some value A speed guys are nice to have. And see RC Jason Kendall is fun. But overall a disappointment.

1996 Philadelphia Phillies

Sorry for the late post. Work is crazy! But you are not missing much with the Phillies. Sad to say the only real highlight on this team is Curt Schilling and Jim Eisenreich. I even had to finagle a guy onto this team because not enough players even made the list. Plus never been a fan of this pinkish maroon color. Give me powder blues though.

1996 San Diego Padres

Here we go! now this team is really fun. Team has multiple FOILS and probably could've gotten more. Fast and powerful with decent starting pitching with one awesome bullpen. This should be fun to play with. Also really like the look of these cards, the color reads well.

1996 Baltimore Orioles

I'm back after a week off! Coming at you fast with the Orioles. A nice 18 team set. Always good to see Pay Me Bobby Bonilla in the set. And the no proof of Steroids Brady Anderson. We do have 2 great foils in this set with Brady and Robbie Alomar. As well a solid 1B not a DH Palmeiro. Always good to see a decent Orioles team versus whatever they are today...

2000 MLB Team and Bot Challenge

I haven't posted a challenge in a while so trying to get back to where the game started, the 2000 set. So many fun cards to play with, and want to give them some love with the 01 style being the dominant view lately. In this challenge, I am going to go first come, first serve, with people posting on Discord followed by on the blog here. If you're not on the Discord yet, message Jeff Mather in the Facebook group for the plug.

The rules are this:

-Each competitor gets to select one team from the 2000 set. With their team, they can only use cards from that specific team (if you select the A's, you can only use A's cards from both the base set and pennant run set). Every team is allowed to be picked one time, so again, it is a first come, first serve, basis on claiming a roster.

-With your roster, you must create a three-man rotation, carry four relievers, and field a full lineup including DH (sorry, for this I am not playing NL rules). As some teams have a limited number of relief pitchers available, teams can choose to carry one starter as a reliever. They are capped at -4 IP off of their chart instead of the full amount. Rosters will be 16 players total. If you choose to play someone out of position in the field, house rule penalties will apply.

-Thanks to Matt Gula and the Bot (showdownbot.com), we are adding a twist to incorporate and promote card creation. Teams may choose to upgrade or add 1 batter, 1 starter, and 1 reliever (three cards total). All Lokis (variants) of a card are welcome, so find the version of the card and player that you want to use and go with that. To qualify for a card, the player must have had either at least 100 at-bats or 25 innings pitched during the 1999 season. The player must have also appeared in a game on that team during the 1999 season. For players that do meet the qualifications, you are allowed to use any year that player played for the team (again, in that season they must meet those qualifications listed above). Two examples would be you could choose to upgrade Darin Erstad if running the Angels or Jeff Kent if managing the Giants to better years (to create better cards). Obviously this promotes finding super seasons, stellar play, one-off seasons, and impactful rookies/trades, so have fun diving into baseball history.

Darin Erstad regular 2000 card.

Darin Erstad 2000 season card using stat version #3 on the bot.

-To fully claim your roster and franchise, you must submit the entire lineup with what cards you will be using, as well as your created cards (which must be shared as well). As I do not have time to create all of these cards, when you submit your roster, you must submit the three pictures/cards that you wish to use from the Bot. The team is not yours until this is submitted and once it is sent it, your team is locked in (no swapping out later if you find a better version).

Games will be played with my house rules. Everyone has little wrinkles and twists for fielding, mistake pitches, and whatever else it may be. If you have a specific question, feel free to ask (I try to answer but sometimes I do not get to everyone). All games will be played out by myself or playing someone on TTS. If you are not on TTS and would like more information, hit Jeff up.

I will take submissions open through August 22nd, at which point I will create a schedule and play the season out.

Good luck to all who participate!

2019 Bot Set -- NL West

The best team in the National League in 2019 resides in the NL West -- the 106 win LA Dodgers! With this post, we'll be 25/30 teams into the 2019 Bot Set! I hope you've been enjoying the ride so far. Here, 3/5th of the teams were sub-.500 and the 85 DBacks aren't much to look at.... but those Dodgers, wowza! Even if the majority of teams aren't contenders in a full sim, there's still plenty of draftable players to look into here, so let's get into it!

Buster Posey is putting up numbers like this again in 2021, but don't expect this MVP card below

1996 New York Mets

I really like the way the New York Mets came out. There are some very high salary cards on this list that just missed getting FOILS at the time. So sadly only 1 FOIL though they could have easily had 3-4. Also some crazy low value puntable cards to fill in positions. Let me know what you think.

1996 Florida Marlins

I know you guys think I missed a day... well I did. Very busy these days. But hey! we are at the halfway point. And that halfway point is the Florida Marlins. A very small team set with not a lot of qualifying players. But the ones they have are boss! They have 4 FOILS!!! It's Hot. Plus the cards look great with the color.

2019 Bot Set -- NL Central

The 2019 Bot Set rolls on with my favorite division, the NL Central! If you play out a season or shortened season or tournament between complete teams, this division is going to be one of the most hotly contested! Of course, the St. Louis Cardinals ended up on top of the division with the third (or even fourth) best team on paper in real life -- while they're easily my least favorite team in baseball, but I have to respect the often unexplainable success created by the Cardinal way..... plus, Busch Stadium is my favorite ballpark! However, the Brewers and Cubs look like loaded squads, and the Reds have a phenomenal rotation plus a few great hitters.

As a Brewers fan, I think we've got the best squad here, but really..... it's everyone but Pittsburgh's division to win!

Unfortunately, the Pirates do not have MVP McCutchin on the squad anymore, but the 2013-2015 Pirates are all *nice* showdown teams!

1996 Seattle Mariners

If you thought last weeks team was good. This team is even better. Its also great to see all these amazing players back on the Mariners. Young Arod and a beautiful Griffey. Got the 11OB Edgar. Only wish Randy Johnson made the list for the team in 1996. Maybe you will all get lucky for an LE set. This team is a beast.

2021 Set -- TRADE DEADLINE SPECIAL

You saw the Hot Stove.... you're hopefully excited for the end of year 2021 set.... but now, enjoy the TRADE DEADLINE edition for the 2021 Set!

This is an idea I've wanted to implement for a while, putting guys dealt at the deadline onto cards for the team they are leaving with their stats to this point of the year making up the card. I think it's fun for several reasons: (a) puts the expectations that teams should have for the guys they just acquired into easy to understand form; (b) let's the worst teams have some fun cards at the end of the season; (c) makes it easy to compare "guy when traded" vs "guy at end of the year" so we can all see if the traded player kept it up, exceeded his previous performance, or didn't live up to the hype. Plus, the more good cards, the better!!

Especially this year, which is the most insane trade deadline class in terms of talent I can remember! Without further ado, let's get into the studs:

1996 Cleveland Indians

Finally we have come to my favorite team. Back in the 90s the tribe was a power house of bats and 1996 is no exception. They have 4 - 10OB hitters. They have 4 foils and a stud of a lineup. Also if the bot went higher than A speed 20 you would see Kenny Lofton breaking that, he had 75 sbs that year. What is interesting to see is the +3 Omar and the random Jeff Kent sighting.

1996 San Francisco Giants

Alright alright whose ready for another 11OB? I mean that's the only reason you are looking at the 1996 giants right? The rest of the team is average at best and in my opinion below average. But it sure is nice to see a young Bonds.

1996 Montreal Expos

Trying to keep up with these at 3x a week. Might be a struggle but still going strong right now. Expos are always fun to release. Especially seeing old school Pedro. Some fun old school players. But overall an average at best team.

1996 Los Angeles Dodgers

This team has some power houses on it. The dodgers come in with 6 Foils including ROY of the year Todd Hollandsworth. And possibly my favorite looking card in Hideo Nomo. It just fits the card frame so well. Also greg gagne looks like Travis Fryman...I said it!

2020 NPB Japanese Baseball Set

I'm new here! My name is Kevin. I found this blog a few months back and that's what got me back into Showdown, so I feel honored to be posting on here. I used to work overnights for a sports data company, and some of my responsibilities were recording NPB (Nippon Professional Baseball) games, monitoring data feeds, etc. So I've always had an interest in the league and the players. Obviously, with Ohtani's runaway success this year it's made me think a bit about the next big star who could make the jump.

I also still watch the occassional NPB game for that same company, tracking pitches. Seeing young stars like Munetaka Murakami and Masato Morishita is really what drove me to make this set. In 2020, Murakami was 20 years old and put up very similar numbers to Alex Bregman and Christian Yelich in 2019. So I set off to make a card for him. Then I figured why not just do the Best 9 (an official award given out, similar to an All-pro team) of the Pacific and Central Leagues. But once you've gotten that far, you may as well finish off the whole set.

Due to Covid the NPB had a shortened season just like the MLB in 2020. However, it wasn’t shortened to the same extremes as the MLB, so there were 120 games played for each team which allowed for cards to be mostly "true".

Shout out and thanks to all the card designers out there (especially those on this blog, Peter, Matt, and Bob) who have shared their secrets, advice, and design input. The Showdown community is truly welcoming and wonderful.

I welcome any and all feedback or constructive criticism. If something looks off, you see a blatant error, or want to share design tips/input please feel free to comment below or reach out on the Showdown Discord.

Methodology:

I tried to capture the top 3 starters in IP for each team. Occasionally adding a 4th. I used the most played position player for each team, occasionally bending that rule, as there are quite a few players with multiple position availability. I did my best to line up with players from the MLB 2020 set so that it could play along side that set (or hopefully any set) reasonably well. For example, Jeimer Candelario had a .369 OBP in 2020 and was given 9 OB with 5 outs for his card. Hiroyuki Nakajima had a .369 OBP for the Yomiuri Giants in 2020. So he gets a 9 OB with 5 outs. I would also use the Showdown Bot as a check for points, or OB, HR rate, etc.

Used the Tier system that Peter and his college buddies pioneered back in 2014 for pitching. I won’t go into detail on that as it’s been covered before. I will say again I tried though that I tried to match the 2020 set to some extent. There are Bieber and Bauer (the top 2 pitchers by points in the 2020 set) “clones,” and I tried to have some bad pitchers even if some other guys may have thrown more innings for their respective teams.

Fielding...was a unique challenge. Especially since many players played several different positions. I couldn’t find defensive runs saved. But there were some other advanced fielding statistics I was able to track down from a Japanese site. Mostly UZR (Ultimate Zone Rating), but they had a couple of other metrics to supplement that. On this website you could only see qualifying players (unless you paid for a subscription) so if they didn’t qualify in 2020 I would check 2019, 2018, or 2021 and see how they were and try to make my best guess.

For catchers I couldn’t find caught stealing %, however, I did know each catcher’s SB allowed and their innings caught. So Stolen bases allowed per inning took the place of SB% essentially.

Special note on the ground ball ranges. Simply put...they are huge. Less strikeouts overall than the MLB, and some of these guys have ridiculous ground ball rates. The average ground ball rate for pitchers represented in the set was 60.63%. (Koyo Aoyogi of the Hanshin Tigers had an absurd 78.90% ground ball rate in 120 ⅔ IP). I was initially thinking I may adjust everyone down a ground ball by 1 or 2, but decided to embrace the high ground ball rates to highlight the differences in the NPB and MLB games. I guess we’ll all find out how much infield defense really matters!

Enough about this. Let's get to the cards!

1996 Chicago Cubs

Look at that I just started releasing these and already missed a scheduled release. But hey that's life. Look on the bright side you get the Cubs today. Some solid cards on here. My boy Sammy Sosa as well as the ever consistent Mark Grace. I don't even remember Luis Gonzalez on the Cubs. They only get the one Foil with Steve Trachsel but he's really solid.

1996 St. Louis Cardinals

Back at it with the Cardinals today. They kind of remind me of some of the Cardinals from the 00 set. Not just obviously in name but OB also. Also funny to have Andy and Alan Benes here. I didn't know they were on the same team. But give me that Brian Jordan card all day.

2019 Bot Set -- AL Central

After this post, we're halfway through the 2019 Bot Set! Arguably the weakest division in the 2019 Set, the AL Central provides two absolute stinkers at the bottom, below-average White Sox, an underachieving Cleveland squad, and a REALLY good Twins team... and it's about time, considering how bad the Twins were in the original 00/01 sets and the 18 set. They're okay in the '20 set, but it's hard to count that shortened year for a lot of fans... so enjoy their swag at the end of the post!

MVP Mauer is obviously a great card.... but at the risk of blasphemy, would he even start at catcher for the 2019 Twins???

Friday, July 16, 2021

1996 Milwaukee Brewers

I know of at least one person that has been waiting for this Post! Nothing too crazy here. Some decent pitchers and 1 10OB and some great 90s mustaches. Also tell me... are you taking Ramon Garcia. Very interesting card. If anything is wrong let me know and I can edit at a later date. Follow me on Twitter @bobbumbarger

1996 Atlanta Braves

You guys have probably been waiting for this team to drop. If you weren't you should've been. This team is hot. It reminds me of the dominate pitching staff in the 00' set. This even has the CY Young winner as well. But the team aint half bad either. Let me know what you think.

1996 Toronto Blue Jays

In a groove now. Cranking these out in alphabetical order. So Blue Jay are next. Including the first look at the rookie card symbol on a card. Also blang blang the Cy Young winner is in this set. Also I know Tony Castillo should probably be on the white sox but I had him on the set from the beginning so I kept him on this team for this set. 2019 Bot Set -- AL East

Continuing with the 2019 Bot Set, we've got the American League bEAST. Despite being defending champions, the Red Sox were outclassed by the extremely impressive squads fielded by Tampa Bay and the Yankees in 2019.

Yankees have featured some ELITE bullpen arms in the 2010s -- will the 100+ win squad of 2019 feature any pitchers as good as 2017 Chad Green? (no, but there's still some studs to draft)

1996 Oakland Athletics

There is a glitch in the Matrix. Not possible for these posts to continue. Advert your eyes from the hotness that is the Oakland Athletics 1996. Some aren't much to look at but... Mark McGwire seems like enough to swoon over. If anything is wrong let me know and I can edit at a later date. Follow me on Twitter @bobbumbarger

2019 Bot Set -- NL East

Hello everyone -- it's been a while since we posted any Showdown baseball cards! Like many of you, we here at the Greatest MLB Showdown project have been captivated by the true greatest gift to showdown fans in the last twenty years: The MLB Showdown BOT. Like so many of you, we've had an absolute blast using it (see my previous post of best 32 teams in last 30 years)!!! Indeed, the ability to instantly compare cards for players/teams across seasons is intoxicating, and the upload a picture function makes it extremely easy to churn out GORGEOUS cards.

Recently, it got a bunch of us here thinking: why not try making a whole set out of BOT cards?

While we love our original 2018 and 2019 sets here, we're aware they were made during our early stages of formula construction and were not made with equalizing stats to other seasons in mind. Thus, it seemed the perfect place to start our test run of an entire set was the 2019 season.... and it didn't disappoint!

So without further ado, we start our 2019 Bot Set with the NL East, home of the World Series Champion Washington Nationals, despite losing this guy in free agency before the season (but he'll still pop up below, just in different colors ;)).

As you can see, he's very similar to our 2018 Harper except for a HUGE difference -- OB 9 instead of OB 10, as he's compared generally across time vs within a single season's bubble. This makes this card more accurate when mixed in with original 00/01 cards, which we enjoy and reckon you dear readers will appreciate more too!

1996 California Angels

Woa. New phone who dis? I haven't posted in a long long time. Been a very very busy person. But thanks to the Cardbot I think I'm finally able to get my prized 1996 set moving. And I tell you it looks promising.

Enough chit chat and small talk. You came here to see the set. This is a 480 card set. I had previously set the Foils for my set before using the BOT so some cards may seem like odd foils but just know they were previously a FOIL under my original calculations. The 2020-2021 NBA Showdown Set

Hello everyone, and today is the day we are releasing the full NBA Showdown set, with a little (big) bonus at the very end for everyone to enjoy if they so choose. This was a lot of work as I said in the last post, over me battling my own thoughts before coming to a consistent method to created these cards. I had a ton of fun making the rare cards, adding a color filter on them to make them stand out a little more, and each team received at least one. I can't state this enough that the cards are based on regular season performances and stats so some players that have stepped up in the playoffs, didn't make the cut or their card just isn't that good.

Lets meet the Conference Finalists, starting in the Eastern Conference, The Milwaukee Bucks. Led by Giannis, and his two very talented teammates Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday, the Bucks are a very good team in showdown terms. Multi-positional flexibility from their three stars and some decent role players, Losing Divincenzo for the playoffs was a big blow to their defense and outside shooting but the team held strong, and now look to head to the NBA Finals if they can get past the Atlanta Hawks.
