MLB Showdown 2005 Mini Set Part 3: Historical Collection

Now for the moment we have all been waiting for, the Historical Collection!!!! Now what this is, is basically a collection of some of the best seasons of a player from every team over the years. Now on this site we have seen a ton of cards made, so the goal here was to not include any of those, so I already had a tough task at hand, and in a few cases I remastered an old card to make it look more up to our current standards. Also the exciting part on top of the players, is a brand new card design. With the old pictures it is hard to find pictures for a great cutout, so using a whole photo with a tint in the background, I drew inspiration from some of the later years of showdown foils. I think these cards would look really cool printed off as foils, and I hope you enjoy the looks of the cards as much as the actual card. Now we get to take a look through the history books at some of the best seasons in Major League Baseball.

MLB Showdown 2005 Mini Set Part 1: Commons

Hey everyone, Matt here and today I am introducing a project that I have been working on for about 8 months if not longer. The 2005 season Mini set, Why did I choose 2005 is a great question, and I have a few answers for that. First, it was the first season that we didn't get a new showdown set. Personally it stopped for me after 2001, but for many of you collectors you kept going all the way until the very end. My second answer would be because I really wanted to see the ridiculous card that Andruw Jones put up with his crazy stat line. But either way what I did was take the qualified hitters and pitchers from the 2005 season, which produce 356 cards. So these aren't completely full teams but there are plenty of players in this set to go crazy with. This has been such an extended project to get cutouts for all these players, and man the 2005 image quality just isn't very good for everyone, you may notice some players are a little more blurry than others and that is why. Now there are a ton of cards to be posted, so this will be broken down over a 3 post series.
