2018 MLB SHOWDOWN SET -- Tampa Bay Rays

This could have been my favorite NON Cleveland team to make. The team had so much flavor in positions and speed and charts. Could also be that baby blue color that just pops. Its a shame they didn't make the playoffs. You can see why without a truly strong lineup or pitching staff. But they seemed to be a very good above average team just a tier below the heavy hitters. They should do well in a team showdown league and in my opinion they have a handful of guys that can be drafted especially in a deep draft format league. Listen/Subscribe to the podcast on YouTube to see what me and Peter's take on the team is.

They finished a very respectable 90-72 and I think a big part of that is there fielding ability and use of the pitching staff. What are your thoughts on the lineup. They are a very flexible team with very high fielding players. Also one of the most rookie heavy teams if not the most rookie heavy team.

Bench

The interesting thing that people will see right away is the way the pitching staff was used and some new elements nobody is use to. Including a starting pitcher with 1IP and a reliever with 4IP. Should be fun to play with... and oh by the way they had the CY Young on their team. Who you drafting.

Bullpen

Hmmm a very interesting team indeed. But I like them. I am very interested to see them going into 2019. Obviously, Pham has already called out the fan base and they don't seem to be relocating any time soon. What are your thoughts? You drafting any of these players?

  3. Not a lot of power, not a lot of power... but with those on-bases and fewer outs, you don't need a lot of power.

Love the bullpen; Yarbrough is my dream mop-up reliever.

  5. Too bad Kiermaier had a down year.

This team is really scrappy, and I see several draftable players (Mallex, Pham, Robertson, Snell, Yarbrough)

    2. Right now we are doing 1 per week. AL then NL. But we are trying to increase the rate. Just takes awhile. Next up is rockies. Followed by angels.

  9. Bob, first off, thanks for starting this project as this is incredible work! Couple questions: 1) how would you recommend printing these to make them look as official as possible? 2) Any price point you would take to print/create them all and ship them? Would love to contribute for all the hard work! Thanks!

    1. 1) I recommend if you are doing it yourself printing on heavy cardstock and using old strat cards as the backer then slipping them into a sleeve. 2) sadly we arn't allowed to take any money for them at all with all the copyright laws etc wish we could. not sure of any work arounds at the moment
