2018 Set Fantasy Draft League

Hey everyone instead of a tournament for our new 2018 Set, I wanted to dive a little further into these great cards and present a league. Depending on how many players we get the league can grow and the schedule can change. My initial set up is for a 10 team league but it is not limited to 10 teams. The more the merrier, and it would just extend the season for more games and more showdown which is all I want anyways. For all the other tournaments so far I have played all the games and allowed you to draft your teams freely and it was first come first serve, build your team the way that you would like. I want to fully level the playing field for this one and do a fantasy draft. I have set up a spreadsheet for the set and the draft and once the draft is going to happen I will give permission to all those involved to edit and they will be able to enter their pick when it is their turn.

What I am looking for out of you is to be the GM of your team, draft the squad that you feel can win you a championship, and stay under the 5,000 point limit for your initial 20 person roster. All players that are not drafted will fall into the free agent pool. Free Agents you ask? Managers that are under the 5,000 salary cap can drop players and add free agents that feel would help their team better throughout the season. Managers will have a limited amount of free agency moves that they can make and trades will also be allowed to be done between managers as long as you stay below 5,000 points. Also once the 20 man roster is drafted and remaining point can be spend on free agents to add to your roster without dropping any players.

My League Rules:

Draft: Order will be randomized a day before the draft
A Draft date and time will be set once 10 teams are registered.
More can sign up before the draft once 10 have been entered
Must Draft:
4 SP
4 Bullpen (RP & CP)
1 C
1 1B
1 2B
1 3B
1 SS
1 CF (or OF)
2 LF/RF (or OF)
Any position can be DH
More Relievers are allowed as bench at the real point cost.

Post Draft Rules:
All undrafted players will become free agents
Waiver wire order will be determined by reverse draft order, and once teams play it will be by worst record
Pennant run players released after the draft will also be free agents
Managers can add free agents as long as they remain under the salary cap
Max Roster of 25 players, minimum 20 on roster
Maximum of 10 Free agency moves, trades don't count against the limit
Managers will submit a rotation, bullpen order (EX. Set up man, Closer, Long Reliever, 7th, 8th, 9th preferences.)
Manager will submit batting order/lineup, stealing and substitution preferences.
All lineups, pitching rotations and batting orders can be changed at the managers choosing via email
All ROSTER MOVES MUST STAY BELOW THE SALARY CAP
If post draft roster is over the salary cap, necessary moves must be made to get below the salary cap

Game Rules:
Basic game rules will apply, no strategy cards
No bullpen pitcher can pitch more than 2 games in a 3 game series
If they pitch more than the IP on their card, they must take the next game off
Max 5 steal attempts per game, single+ doesn't count against it

League Set Up: (If 10 Teams)
Top 4 teams make the playoffs, best of 7 game series
Round robin 3 game series style, will play all teams in league (can change if more than 10 teams in league)
All one division for the teams, unless more than 10 teams enter I will split into divisions.
Once everything is ready I will post a draft preview with a position breakdown looking at the top players at each position.

  2. At first I thought it was going to be you playing out games between the actual teams and we use the stats for our fantasy team lineups. But now that I've read it through, it's just like the last few tournaments in that you will play our made up teams against each other. Is that right?

Regardless, count the Cobra Chickens in.

  5. How will the draft be conducted? On a timer/clock or on a certain night to knock the whole thing out? I would definitely be interested in it, just have a lot going on off the field (figuratively speaking) so wanted to plan accordingly and not leave anyone and the league out to dry.

I would want the team name "Bay Bridge Bashers" and if I could get silhouettes of Michael Cuddyer, David Wright, Ryan Zimmerman, BJ Upton, and Justin Upton (I'm working in N-Design to see if I can make it work) with the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in the background, it would be a knockout team name and logo.

    1. So I been waiting for a 10th team so far everyone seems to say weekday nights and I was leaning towards this coming Thursday evening. I was hoping to knock it out in one night. If everyone is prepared it shouldn’t take more than 2 hours. What type of sheet is this? I have a spreadsheet I was going to send all the people entered in the league with all the players and such, I can add it in to that if you wanted

    2. It's just a PDF, pretty basic honestly haha. Just what I use when playing to determine pitching/batting match-ups on who should be pitching to who. Basically the MLB Showdown version of pitching specialists.

Would the draft just be on here or somewhere else? I think Thursday should work, but I will let you guys know if something happens.

  8. Does it have to be 3 relievers and a closer, or can we just go 4 total relievers?

  9. 4 relievers total, it’s your bullpen build it the way you want to
