MLB SHOWDOWN 2019 SET -- Miami Marlins

The Miami Marlins were a rough team in 2018 and nothing changed in 2019. They finished with the third worst record overall in the entire MLB with a record of 57-105. This team doesn't have any star power or even top 5 round talent in a deep draft. The players on this team are back end of the lineup or rotation quality players. It will be interesting to see if this team can ever turn it around and not trade away the players that can develop to become stars.

I am loving these 01 style cards, if the Marlins ever get good they will look sharp with all the neon colors and the black mixing.

Lineup: Not one player with a speed over C 14, This lineup will be tough to navigate the base paths unless you play against a weak out field defense. I chose Miguel Rojas to lead off because he has 14 speed and is one of the four 8OB players that they have. Followed by Brian Anderson and Garrett Cooper, two similar cards who very well could also be the 1 and 2 hitters in this order, but my choice was to start with the four 8's in a row and I liked them in the middle of this bunch of players. Neil Walker is in the clean up spot and that ends the run of 8 OBs. Harold Ramirez is 5th and he has a fun chart should he get his chart. Following him is Starlin Castro who has a very similar chart but more outs but great defensive flexibility. Jorge Alfaro is the last 7OB with the most home run power, and then two very weak cards in Curtis Granderson and Lewis Brinson.

Rotation: This rotation is no award winning bunch of pitchers, but the only foil of the team Sandy Alcantara looks tremendous with these gorgeous colors, and hes a pretty good pitcher too. Might slide into a team as the 2nd or third option in a drafted rotation. Pablo Lopez is also serviceable, though hes scary allowing runners on at 15, he gives up no extra base hits so if you can keep hitters on his chart you should be in an okay position. Caleb Smith is scary, two doubles and a home run with low control makes him undesirable to say the least, I personally wouldn't want that in my rotation. Finally we have The Game Triple H..... oh wait my bad that's Jose Urena and his card looks awesome with his water fountain. After that he provides nothing to your team and very likely won't be getting picked on a team.

Bullpen: This bullpen is absolutely terrible, other than Jarlin Garcia, he is quite serviceable 4 control pout through 16 and no extra base hits off his own chart. Tyler Kinley is a 1 control out through 18 and batters can only walk on his chart, so he can be used as well but against high control you really don't want him in the game. The other three are all 10 point relievers with 0 control, use them at your own risk.

That was a rough team to go through, this team doesn't have many top parts, or many that will be drafted to a team anways, but JT Riddle was a top RBI guy in my league last year so maybe another Marlin will steal the spotlight in a different location. The Marlins come in at 3080 points with 18 players averaging out at 171 points per player. As of now that is good enough for 2nd worst team out there.
