Classic Set Previews: CORNER OUTFIELDERS

The corner outfield is chalk full of talent and big bats. Seventeen players are worth 400 points or more, with seven players valued at 500 points or more. By comparison, the C-1B-2B-SS-3B positions combined to yield zero 500 point or more players! The most expensive players here are Red Sox and Orioles legends Carl Yastrzemski and Brooks Robinson, each coming in at 600 points. Other Hall of Famers include Mr. October, the namesake of McCovey cove, Willie Stargell, Tony Gwynn, Dave Winfield, Ricky Henderson and Roberto Clemente. Ken Griffey SENIOR and Bobby Bonds put in solid cards as well, showing that their sons were not the only talented members of the family! One of my favorite players, World Series legend Joe Carter, brings some POP! to the bottom of this group. Have fun stocking up your offense with these players, we are sure at least one team will end up with an entire outfield of Hall of Famers to anchor their lineup!

Reggie Jackson nearly missed out being the third 600 point corner outfielder. He's got just as much power as Yaz or Frank, along with the same defensive and speed capabilities. He's the perfect anchor to the middle of a lineup, and if there's an eventual "Pennant Run" edition of the Classic Set, putting Reggie in Pinstrips (and in an Angels uniform) will be a priority!

    1. George Foster + Joe Morgan + Tony Perez is going to be such a lethal heart of the order, which doesn't even count hit machine Pete Rose! If only they'd kept Frank Robinson!

    1. I'll get around eventually to making a Ted Williams (and other Hall of Famers), but the Red Sox team in the Classic Set is the 1975 Red Sox squad, with the best years from each of those players used to make their charts.
