2011 Set - Cincinnati Reds

The 2011 Reds are what I call sneaky-decent. No real stars outside of Joey Votto, one of the most valuable 10 OB cards in the set, and maybe Brandon Phillips, but they have several middle-of-the-road cards that add up to an above average team.

Bill Bray, Francisco Cordero, and rookie Aroldis Chapman make up a solid bullpen. Johnny Cueto is the best of three above-average starters. Power bats Jay Bruce, Chris Heasey, and Pennant Run-addition Todd Frazier shore up the rest of the lineup. The 1-2 punch at catcher features the bat-first Ramon Hernandez and the glove-first Ryan Hanigan

I hesitate to let you in on one of my favorite value bats in the set: Jonny Gomes. He’s an 8-OB, 4 out, B-speed bat that homers at 18, all for just 190 points. How is that possible, you ask? He walks from 5-13. Somewhere Billy Beane is drooling over this card.

Foils: Brandon Phillips, Joey Votto

And the Pennant Run addition:

I think the Reds are an above average team with elite draftability. What do you think?

  1. There's been a lot of teams (already) that look great with the two-tone "foil" cards... this may be the best one, LOVE the red/black combo!

Another excellent collection of cut outs too, especially Cueto and Renteria!
