2011 Set - Colorado Rockies

The Rockies finished fourth in the NL West. 4 years after their World Series appearance and 2 years after an NLDS appearance, Colorado has a predictably strong lineup and a predictably weak pitching staff.

Troy Tulowitzki is the best shortstop in the set, with a powerful 8 OB chart and plus defense. Hall of Famer Todd Helton is an affordable bat that will hit for average and power. As a bonus, Helton

provides +1 defense at first for those who are into that sort of thing. A personal favorite card here is Dexter Fowler. With a single+, 3 doubles, and 2 triples on his chart, and 9 On Base, he could lead off for 220 points if you don’t mind his B speed.

The pitching is not good, but there are a couple of excellent relievers in Lindstrom and Betancourt. And don’t look now, but eternal major leaguer Jamie Moyer makes one of his final appearances in the Pennant Run with a probably undraftable card (but the set wouldn’t be complete without it).

Finally, I must mention that my Chris Ianneta creation for this set was the 1,000,000th card created by the Showdown Bot.

Foils: Todd Helton, Troy Tulowitzki

  1. I think Tulo will be a little pricey for me to draft, but LOVING options like Helton and (especially) Dexter Fowler, who's going to be a perfect, cheap leadoff man!
