The final day of the opening round of the inaugural Showdown Cup has come to a close and what great competition we had. The Cubs rang off their 6th win in a row after being no hit by Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers in their first game. The Dodgers knocked off the Cardinals to secure a playoff position with a walk off home run by Joc Pederson. The Braves beat the Phillies taking them both to 3-4 with a -3 run differential effectively making them tie for 5th&6th place. Finally the Marlins beat the Diamondbacks pushing the Marlins into the second seed and Arizona to the third seed.

Now there we have it, the playoffs are set, are you sticking with your original picks? Did they get eliminated? Who do you think will bring home the first Showdown Cup?
YES, called the final four (even if I missed on who won the Marlins/DBacks)!!! My first correct prediction lol! So pumped for the Showdown Cup playoffs to begin!
ReplyDeletePredictions:
Dodgers upset the Royals
Mariners over DBacks (assuming it's the #4 starters)
Yankees over Marlins
Cubs over Red Sox
So for this round the #4 starters are moving to the bullpen pitching at half their ip
ReplyDeleteIn that case, I'm going DBacks over Mariners!
DeleteYeah I can’t wait to see what happens. The AL threw me way off, in the NL the only thing I didn’t see was the marlins I thought the Braves or Phillies would have gotten that spot but with Maddux going 0-2 in his starts that hurt. Although this starts were against a Randy Johnson complete game shut out and a loss to the best team record wise the cubs it makes sense why they didn’t make it. But next time who knows make some favorable rolls and some favorable opponents when he’s on the mound and the Braves could be in the post season.
